According to USA Today a 73 year old Russian potato farmer in the remote region of Primorye (roughly translated as "by the sea") has been convicted for illegal production and possession of explosives, after a neighbor was injured by a blast from a homemade landmine. When asked about the mines, which the farmer had placed around a potato plot, he explained that they were to ward off thieves.
